Deftones Damsel This EP is a quintuple of beautifully written lyrics, strong vocals, and well balanced instrumentals. Dawn of the Dim has that nostalgic darker tone that I love, and somehow The Offer isn't misplaced in its spot ending the EP. There's a bittersweet vibe that leaves me wondering what's next in Ryan's story. Favorite track: The Offer.

From On High 03:39
In youth, we promised ourselves This love would not be outgrown But I hide myself so well As the years have certainly shown This mountain, we vowed to climb Foreboding and treacherous You scaled and I stayed behind To settle with the dust Now you say "So long" from on high Up there, above the crowd Your future is taking flight You ought to be so proud Given time, your dreams arrive A reward for your endless work I knew you would be recognized I knew you'd get what you have earned Now you say "So long" from on high Up there, above the crowd Your future is clear and bright You ought to be so proud By now, I'm the tiniest speck In the rearview, as you stare ahead No disquiet or regrets About the path you have chosen to tread Now you say "So long" from on high Up there above the crowd Your future is clear and bright You ought to be so proud Yes, I'm glad you never lost sight Nothing can stop you now But we had such a good time I wish you could just come down For a while.

Violet 05:52
Like so many who came before And walked this broken earth I know there's much that I don't see Stars ignite and brightly burst Cells drift and divide Limitlessness, infinity When it's all said and done I'll be proud to say I took a chance on you and me And my heart slows down (and I'm falling forever) And the pain withdraws (and I'm falling forever) Moments come and moments pass As soon as they arrive Impossible to be retrieved Something begs me to hold on Forgiveness, love, and truth The universe has granted me reprieve And my heart slows down (and I'm falling forever) And my mind gives pause (and I'm falling forever) And my skin ignites (and I'm falling forever) And the pain withdraws (and I'm falling forever)

Wake Me 04:35
A strength of sorts Bred in my bones This stubbornness Served me well When I went through hell Nevertheless I'm not one To roll over Or loosen my grip But there comes a time When one must know When to quit Help me Break free I can't seem to find my way out Shake me Wake me If I'm dreaming now I can't help but feel The void is real So here I wait Who knew I'd Be imprisoned by Such a fate? Help me Break free I can't seem to find my way out Shake me Wake me If I'm dreaming now

So cold, the knife The blade draws you in So warm, the light For those without sin So blue, the sky It smiled and held your hand So soon, the light Grows dim across the land I don't know how we have survived I don't know why hate is alive So bright, the sun Its killing heat gives life So still, the night The sorrow seems so right So sleek the gun Its barrel, cold and smooth Brings peril soon Brings the horrifying truth I don't know how we have survived I don't know why hate is alive Swing just like marionettes Swing to the dance of death Swing in time with the bombs Dance around them as they go off Swing up high, swing down low Swing as your fathers told you so Shimmy and shake as the world erupts Swing and sway 'til you get enough I need some time to think... I don't know how we have survived I don't know why hate is alive

The Offer 04:05
Here's an offer; a flag of truce So I won't have to lie When you ask if I've been OK I'll just lay it on the line Sometimes it feels like I was born to lose Like there's no reason to try And since the day you walked away I just sit and wonder why Come back home It's only fair Come back home And I'll meet you there Tonight It's fair It's right The time escaped me; cutting loose To soar so swiftly by Was so busy waiting for the wind to carry me away I never learned how to fly And I don't have a good excuse For the state of my mind But I'll agree to every offer you make If you'll just listen to mine Come back home It's only fair Please come back home And I'll meet you there Tonight It's fair It's right I'll meet you there Tonight It's fair It's right.
